What can I expect?

1. First, you would email me to express your interest.

2. We would book a free consultation session together. This can either be over the phone, on a video call, or in specific circumstances over text. We would organize this together via email.

3. Consultations are typically pretty brief, around 15-20 minutes and works as an introduction to me and how I can help you. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you have or give me an outline of what you’d like to work on, to make sure that we’re a good fit.

4. If you choose to go ahead with my coaching services, I will send you my coaching agreement for you to review and sign. It covers all of the details of our work together. You will also need to complete a signup form which involves giving me your details for my records. We can review these documents in our first session together.

5. Upon completion and return of your signed forms, we would then book our free first session. The date and time depends on both of our availability.

6. Sessions are typically 50 minutes long. However, if you'd like longer sessions you can ask and I can adapt my fees for you.

7. For my first session, I like to do an overview of your life, concerns, and goals. Goals and concerns are often so interconnected, it can create a good picture of what is going on for you before we dive deeper into coaching.

8. During this first session we would decide how frequently you would like sessions, and if you would like a set number of sessions. We would outline a few initial goals to start working on. Of course, life happens and we can absolutely deviate from these goals if necessary. I often find that one goal or concern can lead into big in-depth discussions about other areas of your life. Directions be as strict or loose as you like.

9. We can schedule sessions at a regular time, or we can schedule the next session at the end of the current one - it’s up to you!

10. I will email you my payment information. You will need to send this to me up to 24 hours before our next session. If you have not sent payment, I will reach out as a reminder, but I will have to cancel our session if it remains unpaid.

11. If you ever decide you need to end our sessions together, you just need to email me to let me know. It's up to you whether we have a conclusive last session or leave our work together there. (You don't need to be scared of this, I am a professional and I understand that these things happen).

*Depending on your mode of coaching - text, phone, or video - I will outline what to expect in an initial email or consultation. For text or phone based, I will send you a number so you know it's me. For video based I will send you a Zoom link.

I'm new to professional help - how do I reach out?

How are your sessions structured?

This depends on a lot of factors, if you have a set number of sessions or not, and what your concerns are.

Typically, the first session is a free intro where we take a look at your life and the concerns you have. We can outline some rough goals from this session.

If you're opting for a set number of sessions, the rest may look like this:

The next couple of sessions will be looking deeper at the core of these concerns and the roadblocks you have. We can use this reflection to more clearly define your goal/s.

Then in the following sessions we will look at the steps to take in achieving your goals. This might involve some trial, error, and investigation. You may have difficulty getting to practice things in one week, so we may leave bigger gaps between sessions.

I will never expect you to be perfect with achieving the steps we define - that's why you're in coaching! Life is all about learning lessons from our missteps. Where a technique doesn't work, we can examine why and how, and then tailor it some more.

If you're opting for open-ended sessions, I will play more of a coach in your pocket, helping you overcome situations as they arise.

My strategy of tailing techniques to fit you, experimenting with them, and then tailoring some more will still be the same as those with structured sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

I offer different structures:

A bulk set of 6 sessions - This gives us time to get to the core of your concerns and then put steps into practice. These are most helpful with one or two goals to work on and accomplish. You can absolutely add sessions on the end of this if you want more.

Session by session booking - We can work together and decide how many sessions are needed as we go, but we will work to get to an end point where you are able to use tools and techniques to work on future goals yourself.

Ongoing coaching - These are more undefined sessions and we can work on things as they arise. The same techniques and tools will be taught here, as it is important you don't rely on me, but you will have a little extra support.

How do I know if coaching is for me?

If you have read everything and it sounds good to you, then it's for you!

Coaching can help with any kind of goal, whether it be something action based "I want to overcome the anxiety of finding a new job", or abstract "I want to find out who I am". It can also be a mixture of both "I want to find out how to motivate myself in a way that works".

There are some limitations in terms of the difference between therapy and coaching. I can help with symptoms of mental health difficulties*, but I cannot treat them. If you're unsure, we can talk about this in our consultation or you can send me an email and ask.

*I do not include Autism and ADHD as mental health difficulties. Both of these are not something you can "cure", nor do they need to be "cured". Both may be paired with mental health symptoms that can be disabling, but we can work on these together.

What if I set a goal but life happens and we need to change topics?

This happens all the time!

Most concerns and goals are interlinked, like a giant spiderweb in our minds. There is often a core narrative that can be applied to different goals and areas. And if there isn't, then we can decide together what the priority is at that moment.

Do I need to have a neurodiverse diagnosis?

No! No diagnosis required. Self-diagnosis is completely valid, it's also okay if you're questioning too!

I provide coaching for neurotypical people too, being a neurodiverse professional doesn't limit my capabilities as a coach in any way.
